Recruitment consultants have been told to go it alone of they want to stop 'building someone else's dream'.

Starting a recruitment agency is the first step to freedom from employment that can allow professionals to make money for themselves instead of another person, it has been stated.

According to Craig Milbourne, an industry insider who was sharing his thoughts on peer-to-peer site LinkedIn on what issues prevent people from setting up their own recruitment agency, the fear of being broke is a major factor.

He explained that many people would be out of cash if they did not earn a salary for three months and so decide to remain in their jobs, meaning "the cycle goes on for 40 years which is mad".

"All you are doing by being employed is building someone else's dream when you could be building you own doing a similar thing whilst building an income stream, wealth and an asset," he said.

Mr Milbourne also had advice for those whose operation was not profitable, urging them to continually review their business plans "and keep revising till it does".

Businesses can also outsource their back office requirements, such as invoices and payrolls, to an agency to free up valuable time.
