According to Phil Flaxton of Work Wise UK, employers need information to show them how to implement flexible working schemes without causing disruption to their workforce.
His comments follow an announcement by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills which intends to implement the right to request flexible working for those with children aged under-18.
This is set to come into effect in April 2011, with talks later this year to discuss how this could be integrated among all employees.
Research from PricewaterhouseCoopers earlier this year shows that 47 per cent of employees rate flexible working as the most attractive benefit in the workplace, compared to just 19 per cent who favoured performance-related bonuses.
