The role of HR has become increasingly important as a result of the recession, which may interest those intending to set up a recruitment agency.

According to research from Badenoch & Clark, HR executives have become more valued by businesses since the start of the recession because they are pivotal in cost-efficiency drives, reports Onrec.com.

Sarah Wynne, associate director at Badenoch & Clark comments: "There has been a much greater emphasis and importance placed on retention, restructuring and having an effective workforce in recent years – all issues that are managed by HR."

The research suggests that the profile of HR roles is being raised to the extent where professionals may see themselves becoming important figures in company decision-making.
