Employers Forum on Age has called upon recruiters to change their attitudes towards hiring older people.

That is according to Employers Forum on Age (EFA), which is calling on recruiters to have this in mind when selecting candidates in order to prevent discrimination based on age.

"I think the recruitment industry has struggled to realise that a team made up of identikit people is not the strongest option," explained Rachel Krys, the EFA's campaign director.

"What they're really missing is that a mixed-age team - having people of all different ages - makes a much stronger and much more adaptable team."

Her comments were made as new statistics from the Department of Communities and Local Government revealed that age prejudice was the most common form of labour market discrimination experienced in 2009-10.
