Working for a company does not offer any security at all, according to one recruitment consultant.

Contrary to popular belief, working for a company does not offer any security at all, according to one recruitment consultant, who is encouraging people to consider setting up their own recruitment agency.

While this may have been the trend in the past, recent cases, such as the collapse of investment bank Lehman brothers and the mass redundancies that followed, show times have changed.

That is according to Craig Milbourne, who shared his views on peer-to-peer business networking site LinkedIn where he argued that "employment status is just a mindset".

"If you want to work until retirement and pay 50 per cent in taxes along the way for everything you ever earn and feel this is security then go ahead," he stated.

"In a business you have much better tax breaks and can expense outgoings before they are taxed through your income. Its not so much how you earn, its what you can keep."

Those who set up a recruitment agency can outsource some of their back office services in order to free up their time.
