Young people may be facing an employment crisis, which may interest those looking to set up a recruitment agency.

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has voiced concerns that there may be a crisis in youth unemployment, with figures released by the Office for National Statistics tomorrow (Wednesday 13th) set to clarify the issue.

While there has recently been a fall in overall employment levels, the body notes that between April and June this year, short-term unemployment rose by 43,000 for people aged 18-24, while as of June 2010 there are 192,000 young people in long-term unemployment.

By contrast, during the same period short-term unemployment declined among those aged 25-49.

And with five jobseekers per vacancy, the TUC is concerned that young people will lose out due to a lack of experience.

"Tomorrow's figures will be a key indication of whether young people are facing a new jobs crisis," comments general secretary of TUC Brendan Barber.

Recent figures released by the Centre for Policy Studies show that the number of workless households is higher in Britain that in any other major European Union country.
