I've been a fan of working virtually since launching my recruiting business in 1987. Along the way (while working virtually at home) I launched a software company, an online membership site, coaching business and an Executive Search business. When I started working from home it was frowned on by 'real' businesses but over time I've seen the acceptance grow to where I think it will become more of the norm than the exception. With the various tools, technologies and toys (I mean toys in the best sense of the word) along with the 24/7 net world why work any way else.

I've recently become a fan and devotee of using Skype video in my business. Are their any other Skype like tools that work better? I know they can't be cheaper. :) I've now done away with my land line and use my mobile and Skype for all my phone calls but between email, Skype and Twitter I'm finding my phone time dropping off significantly.

Any suggestions on other tools for us 'homesteaders'?
