I am sitting here waiting for my manager to get me a requirement to work on. I work virtually and have for the past 7 years. I have come to realize that if a staffing company is not set-up properly or have virtual recruiters as a part of their business model, it becomes a set-up for failure.
I worked for a staffing company that everyone worked virtually. We would get together once a quarter to spend some time together and then back to our home offices, Because this was their business model, it was a great place to work and I was very successful as was the company.
My current and my last position were for large staffing companies that had many brick and mortar offices. They had a few virtual recruiters including myself. I was left out of staff meetings and when the morning reviews were going on, they forgot to include me.
As I am this morning, I am waiting for something to work on. My current employer assigns requirements and does not want me to go "cherry picking" through the 40 - 60 requirements we get every day.
I will speak to management here and let them know that they are not properly utulizing their virtual recruiters.
If there needs to be a next employer, I will make sure that virtual recruiters are a part of their business model or I will ask them if they would like me to manage their virtual recruiters.
