I don't know about you but I always give my candidates a chance to tell me why they fit the position. For example, if I'm searching for a pharma rep and the company needs the candidates to have experience with a certain kind of doctors; I would ask the candidates if they have that experience. Some great candidates may not write the greatest resume.

Of course, there are times when the candidate who have applied for a position where they no experiences that relates to the position; those are the ones that I would toss out within a blink of my eyes.

I would think that candidates would want to be more successful at their career search. By applying for the wrong position, the candidate will not have the results they are looking for.

Things have changed in searching for a job. Companies now want people with the exact experience; candidates doing what the company do in their industry. In the olden days, it was just good enough that you wanted to work. It's didn't matter if you had a degree or not in most industries.

With this downturn in our economy, companies are still hiring. The big difference is that they want the candidates to have the exact experience and the right educational
requirements. A couple of times, I had to pass on great candidates with great skills for their industry, but the company will only look at those candidates with the required degrees.

I think most of the time, the candidates who apply for the wrong position because they did not read the requirements. They had glanced at a few words that catch their eyes. Then they let their finger push the send button to send their resume to the recruiter.

What are the chances they will get a reply?
