Candidates are asked to sign a release and hold harmless and are informed that the information may have negative employment consequences. I would agree that a "bald" credit score may be misleading and may be viewed unfavorably by EEOC if it is the determining factor in the hiring decision. However; when a credit rating that includes a credit score is only one element of a much larger and more thorough employment validation process, they truly have little to say. Beyond this, and returning to Louis' questions, No, I do not think it is or should be required of all prospective employees. I believe these should be limited to senior managerial positions or those responsible for monetary transactions as a part of the daily routine. The juice must be worth the squeeze. As to how it effects the wounded job market, I can only opine that its impact will be limited if used appropriately. In summary, I think that employers need to be cautious consumers and I believe that we as recruiters need to assist them in becoming so. misrepresentation equals termination and the guarantee of my firm is good for a year. Topic: My Future in Recruiting: nd been invited to present my ideas to people much smarter than myself. Those things definitely give me some credibility that I should be able parlay into a bright future. We'll see. I've been at the forefront of a few small revolutions in our industry and now I'm on the leading edge of another one. A BIG one. "Social Media." It has become a hot topic in HR and in life in general. It's literally revolutionized the way humans communicate with each other. And, recruiters can totally exploit it and squeeze every last drop out of it. My future in this new era will be full of helping our fellow recruiting professionals make use of all these new tools. It's going to take a lot of hard work and education. Not only my own, but for those who "aren't quite there yet." They are my favorite. Each day, I'm asked: "How do we get our jobs on Google and Facebook?" or "Can we track Linked In and Twitter job applicants?" YES WE CAN....and, we should have started yesterday! That's what I think my future in recruiting is. What the future really holds is yet to be seen. But one thing's for sure, I'll be right there in the thick of it. What I've found (and to all my friends who run, own, manage, promote, endorse, sponsor, lead or otherwise have some claim staked in the hashtag world - you know I love you!) is the majority of chats end up becoming a nonstop string of RT's of one "leader/coach/trainer/recruiter/marketer" in the space by another. Kind of like a mutual admiration society - but with a SEND button. Yes the intentions are good. But the idea of an actual conversation using 140C and hoping to squeeze your thought across with any sort of continuity is more a dream than reality. Plus - many of the tips, ideas, etc. I see (even from the "experts") is complete garbage. On topics from A to Z. Tim - you know what I think? I MUCH prefer the chat box here. A place for real discussion not limited to short sentences (made even shorter so everyone can RT you thus underlining your Klout and expertise) I talk to lots of people. And "lots of people" are simply burned out on hashtag chats. Do something different. Bring people here. Don't clog up the Twitter stream with another trendy chat name........ Yep. With the amount of people I have hired (and fired), solid full desk people are difficult to attract and retain. Solid professionals that manage both sides of the business are a diamond in this business. Therefore, in saying that, you should be able to discuss better commission numbers than the original offer. This will offset the lower salary, showing you have "skin in the game" however when producing expect a larger piece of the pie.
