Irene Moving up U.S. East Coast
This visible image of Hurricane Irene from the MODIS instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite was taken on August 26, 2011 at 18:05 UTC (2:05 p.m. EDT), when Hurricane Irene was off the Carolinas.
The National Hurricane Center notes that some re-intensification is possible today and Irene is expected to be near the threshold between Category 2 and 3 as it reaches the North Carolina coast.
