The Himalayan jumping spider is a tiny spider that lives high up in the Himalayas, and has been found at altitudes as high as 6700 metres above sea level. Its only source of food at these extreme heights is stray insects that are blown up the mountainside by the wind.

Here’s a set of eyes to behold This photo caught my eye for a number of reasons. First, it’s fantastic; it’s unbelievable—it’s spellbinding.
It also made me think of the idiom: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". And, "My, what big eyes you have! The better to see you with, my dear...” from the famous story of Little Red Riding Hood.
This picture also reminded me of how dominant visual acuity (literally and figuratively) can often be in recruiting. Sometimes it is this sense and factor that overrules our other senses and factors used in making hiring decisions. And if left unchecked it can grow into a bias. A bias that favors what we see rather than what we see and hear—meaning for some recruiters, and hiring managers--beauty; attractiveness and image trumps other observations…and may overlook shortcomings.
A picture can say many things...but only if you're listening. vbm
