While in the 9th Grade my daughter worked on a 9th Grade Class Project wherein a famous historical figure was to be exhibited in a DIORAMA.  My daughter selected Rosa Parks and created a pictorial DIORAMA, in the shape of a buses' interior, depicting events of that fateful day when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat for a White Male Passenger and move to the back of the bus. Photos of Martin Luther King, Jr., the March on Washington, etc., are also included.   

I came by that DIORAMA recently and decided to share it on the RBC in celebration of Black History Month.  I recall the effort it took my daughter to research Rosa Parks; collect numerous photos of the historical period; and to create a DIORAMA representing her impact on history in America with a pictorial display.   I've included more detailed information on Rosa Parks as well for those who may be unaware of her dramatic role as a Civil Rights Pioneer.  

Rosa Parks - Civil Rights Pioneer  -

Civil-rights activist. Born Rosa Louise McCauley on February 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Alabama. Her refusal to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus spurred on a city-wide boycott and helped launch nation-wide efforts to end segregation of public facilities.

Museum visitors climb aboard the city bus that black civil rights activist Rosa Parks was arrested on 50 years ago in Alabama at Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. The bus, that was purchased and restored by the museum in 2001, is draped with a black and purple shroud to honor Parks who died in Detroit at the age of 92.

The arrest of Rosa Parks ignited the Montgomery, Alabama Bus Boycott where "Thousands of blacks refused to ride the city's buses as long as they remained segregated during the 381-day protest." (St. Louis American)
