Senior Management's active participation at job fairs and career conferences make all the difference in the world relative to making hiring decisions sooner rather than later. The most competitive companies operate in this fashion and get quality results.
Employers who only send HR reps to such events will be lucky to find most top quality candidates still available by the time they sort out and forward the best resumes and interview notes on to hiring managers. They're too damn late because the best candidates were met, assessed, and extended invitations to visit the job site for final interviews where many will receive job offers on the spot.
