There are many good ways to break into HR. I am very aware of SoCo and their environment is one that encourages opportunity. I would suggest applying for internal opportunities. You may want to take a few HR classes prior to appling internally (check out your local SHRM chapter).

There are several HR groups on LinkedIn as well, join these groups. Also, World at Work offers training coureses (1-2 day). I took a compensation course to learn job desgn.
