Hiring the “Aged”

Recruitment can be a crazy business.  We are at the whim of our candidates and our hiring managers, some days it feels like I am a babysitter more than recruitment professional.  Over the past few years I have noticed a disturbing trend, one that may have been present for some time but I am noticing it more and more.

I can't help everyone - I'm sorry!

 

Some days this job is tougher than others.  Some tough days are pain in the ass hiring managers, candidates that do ws, or just overwhelming volumes of works.  But the toughest days for me are the candidates that are desperate.  Not just a little, but a lot.

How can you do this job everyday?

Don’t you get tired of asking the same questions every day?  I don’t know how you can do this job.  Now I admit to having asked my day care provider how she can do her job every day without moments of insanity, but that is another story.  In truth, I may ask the same questions, but I don’t get the same answers.  But to be honest, especially with the phone interview, that is not why I love doing this job.  It is for a very different reason.  It is the same reason that I strongly disagree with…
