What do We Really Want from Hiring Managers?

If there is one thing that both internal and 3rd party recruiters can agree upon it's that it's always the hiring manager's fault. They seems to be the universal scapegoat. Geez, Amy blames one 10 times a day for something or other.

But, since we will probably never get a hiring manager masochistic enough to come on and get spanked here,

let me play one on the internet and you can fire away at me. Let me go first.

Recruiters (internal or external) are a bunch of whiny b words who think that all I have to do all day is answer

their dumb questions and give them feedback on their worthless candidates.

They don't realize that the fact I have an open req means I am working the job of at least 2 people.

I wish, just once, they'd say to me "Let's make a scheduled time each day week, every other day, whatever

is necessary so that I can plan for it. Instead of the helter skelter leaving of messages. And then they take it

personally if I don't call back!

Look, I spent an hour with you at the beginning telling you what I'm looking for. I'm willing to talk to you

furtheri if I feel you're getting it. If you are rehashing the same stuff and sending irrelevant candidates, I have

no time for you.

So act a little more professional. Show me that you are listening and I will work with you. Otherwise, step aside.

I await your replies (except that Valentino dude, he's scary).

I have to say that on the hiring managers behalf that if you never ask the right questions you will never get the right fit! Do not be intimidated by the hiring managers.... ask all the questions you can when you have on the phone or in front of you. Also, be prepared!!

Frankly the photo of two beautiful mountain goats on a mountain top you featured just doesn't jive with a what a scapegoat should resemble, in my view. Plus who is going to make the trek to some mountain top to capture and convert such pristine creatures into scapegoat status?
