Social Media for Business/Recruiting

I am really interested in the concept of social media for the purpose of business growth, recruiting, etc. I thought that this would be the perfect venue to pose my question.

I would love to better understand what others feel about social media for business growth (i.e. linkedin, facebook, recruitingblogs, twitter, etc.). It has been challenging to make a business case to the management of my company for this activity. I'm very interested in hearing from folks who have made this work. Does anyone have any success stories that they are willing to share? Can anyone give me any numbers regarding placements or quantify their success ratio versus time spent? Realistically, how much time should be spent on social media activity?

Or, point me to past blogs, articles which provide the type of information that I am seeking? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

IN FACT, I just had a meeting yesterday with my management and shared the fabulous presentation by Talent Technology that I attended last week from the RecruitingBlogs.com. My management was AMAZED, needed a little time to digest the info I gave them, but are excited about the future and Social Media as a business tool - to brand AND recruit.
