As a
UVM grad and an attendee when Ben and Jerry's started up their enterprise in an old gas station bordering the square in downtown Burlington, VT, when I read this today, many words passed my lips...
In response to our letter, Ben and Jerry's issued the following statement: "We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child."
PETA,
recently wrote wrote a letter to Ben and Jerry's, asking them to switch from cow's milk to breast milk in their ice cream. Now the health benefits of the idea notwithstanding, I can only imagine the recruiting processes required to obtain the services of the producers. Would their be an oral test (sorry)? Would they be independent contractors or employees?
Would Ben & Jerry's size their ice cream packaging according to uh, A, B, C, or heaven forbid D containers?
Dunno, it's Friday.
