Dan and I met at ERE Global two weeks ago. When you are up until 5am with this gentleman walking the streets of Amsterdam, you can’t be less than startled to know he is but only 26 years of age, was
a CBI (Confederation of British Industry)/Real Business “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” and leads a dynamic, award winning recruitment technology company. Dan McGuire is a name to be remembered and a friendship to be valued. Every conversation is one of animation, humorous anecdotes, and sincere inquiry - all qualities that make someone of his age and maturity well positioned to be a dynamic force in the staffing technology field.
Dan McGuire has successfully led his Canary Wharf, UK-based company, “Broadbean” to win 2 awards in recognition of its technical innovation and three for their unique and vibrant marketing/brand in the last 3 years, and
has achieved growth in excess of 1300% (Deloitte Fast 500) over 5 years and 35 dedicated, happy, passionate so-called, “Beaners.” Their European operation launches in Feb 08 and the US in Summer 08.
Broadbean has the fastest growing job board network in Europe and by the middle of 2008 will adding over 100 new job boards to the network every month. More specifically, Broadbean is the UK’s largest job
posting and applicant/source tracking company, distributing in excess of 1,500,000 online job adverts every month to more than 600 job boards across the globe, - including 60% of the UK’s Top 250 staffing businesses and many blue chip employers.
Ann Swain (Chief Executive of ATSCo), Keith Robinson (Formerly COO of TotalJobs.com) and Les Clark (founder of Glotel) have agreed to join the board as non-executive directors to advise Broadbean
on the European launch and global strategy. The three high level appointments come at a buoyant time for The Bean. In October alone, Broadbean were short listed as finalists in two categories at the ATSCo Awards as well as receiving highly commended status in the Innovative Technology and Life Time achievement categories at The London and South East Recruitment Awards that took place in London last week.
Dan was a recruiter for 3 and a half years before moving into online recruitment almost 5 years ago. Those who know Dan or have seen him speak will know he’s a straight talker. Dan likewise is an avid blog reader and writer
highlighting issues and commentary pertaining to online recruitment, traditional recruitment, technology, job boards and, inevitably, things other people have said with a broader Eurocentric outlook with British sensibility.
On Friday night, November 16th, ATSCo awarded Broadbean with “Innovator of the Year” for the second time. Dan McGuire’s Broadbean won the award in 2004 for Aplitrak and this time round the
company was recognized for its revolutionary integration product, Hybrid. That’s two now for Hybrid in 2007 having won Best Technical Innovation in Online Recruitment at the Onrec’s in February.
Here’s what the judges had to say:
“The winner of the ‘Innovator Of The Year’ award is for an innovation that is as a consequence of listening to users needs and identifying where benefits and efficiencies can be provided. The
company has demonstrated on more than one occasion that they are not satisfied to sit back on their haunches and supply more of the same. They endeavor to address the needs of an ever changing, demanding and more challenging marketplace. For a relatively young company, their energy and belief in their service and product is commendable. This year’s winner of the Innovator Of The Year of 2007 award is, again a previous winner, Broadbean Ltd.”
Well done to Dan and his team at Broadbean for yet another award, their 6th in the last few years.
