Monster Buys Affinity Labs - a cool $61 million

Monster.com just bought Affinity Labs for $61 million. The sites are only a few months old but attract 800,000+ page views a month already.

Techcrunch offers a somewhat critical review of the deal.

Congrats to Monster and Affinity Labs even if it was planned all along.

What do you think of the deal? A little out there or right on the ball? Neal, any feedback? Obviously Christopher Michel carries a lot of weight.

The comments are the best part! There are supporters and criticizers and some are VERY critical.

If anyone knows Chris Michel I would like to meet him because obviously he is thought to be a pretty impressive guy. I wonder what he will do for Monster over the next 2-3 years.

It could be that their share price low is just a blip on the radar and that we will be seeing some very cool things coming out of Monster which some inside have been trying to bring out. Then again, we have all seen them do acquisitions before (I've heard 13 dead ones - FlipDog anyone?) but when you have near limitless capital in the HR space you can do many things others can't.
