Here’s a quick tip for Recruiters.
If your search for top talent includes any of the many Job Boards there’s an easy way you can find some excellent candidates.
Before you focus your attention on those candidates who recently created their account and added their Profile/Resume (or those who recently edited it) you might want to first check out all the qualified candidates from 1,2,3 and maybe even 4 years ago if the Job Board you’re using gives you that option.
You’d be surprised how many “passive” and qualified candidates can be found using this approach.
Of course, the information you see will be outdated and you’ll have to look more closely at their Resume to see if their career path is trending in the direction they would’ve needed to go to make them a viable candidate for your search, but a few extra minutes here can be worthwhile.
Nine times out of ten you can project things quite easily using some good old common sense and when you call them they’ll verify as much during that initial conversation.
Another reminder, that this should only be done AFTER you’ve mined your own Resume database first and tapped into any exisiting networks for help finding referrals.
I mean, why conduct a fresh search for candidates you aren’t even sure exist if you already have plenty at your fingertips to begin with, right?
