Creative sourcing techniques? Let's hear the war and success stories!

Hello World!

It's my first time blogging so please be gentle on me! While adding Yahoo Messenger to my arsenal of communication tools to stay in touch instantly with the outside world, I noticed something called Chatrooms and wondered, have any of you effectively set up or gone into the computer rooms to recruit? What are your war stories for methods you thought were creative but failed miserably? What worked that you never thought would? I look forward to hearing your inspiring stories! Where is all the good talent? Is it found through social networks like Linkedin or Facebook? Are job boards dead?

Also of note, I've been promoted to a new position within Keane called Manager of Recruiting Programs. In this position, I'll be responsible for Recruitment Branding, the selection of a Talent Acquisition System next year, the user experience of our career website and the development of recruiting collateral. I'm overwhelmed by the phenomenal opportunity and look forward to writing about my experiences in these areas and receiving advice from all of you in each of these new areas I'll be responsible for.

Before I close out my first blog, props to my new friend Rob for patiently teaching me how to use a chatroom and a webcam to conduct interviews all over the globe. I'm sure he'll be smiling as he reads this and hopefully not divulge the room I accidentally found him in, otherwise, one of my creative sourcing techniques might be blown!

Continued success to all of you!

Thanks for sharing. How does the webcam work for doing interviews?

Through trial and error, it was difficult. To save you time, my advice would be make sure the camera you purchase is not the $50 variety. Spend the extra $$$ up front and be sure what you purchase is compatible with your operating system as well as chat program of your preference (not all work well on all chat programs). Additionally, it goes without saying, be sure you have high speed internet for better clarity of picture and fewer drop offs. Happy web cam'ing!
