Position Title: Software Engineer

Location: Rockville,MD

Type of position: Temp to Hire



DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

High visibility position working with group of this National Institute biostatisticians who are supporting and developing applications for the analysis of high throughput data.
Performs complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software.
Activities range from operating system architecture integration and software design to selection of computer systems, language, and/or equipment.
Performs in accordance with established project standards and processes.
Establishes project standards and processes.
Upper levels may break down software requirements and create highly complex systems.
Statistical Bioinformatics Software Development.
Collaborate with investigators in the development of software that implements new methodology for the analysis of gene expression data.
Interact with a worldwide community of investigators using the software to design and analyze laboratory and clinical studies.
Requires: (i) interest in genomics and biomedicine; (ii) interest in the development of innovative software that efficiently implements state-of-the-art methods and is useable by scientists; (iii) serious programming skills with willingness to program in R and VBA; (iv) education in biostatistics.
Person will support the development of an application analysis tool-kit to provide support for the analysis of microarray data.
These tools may include data mining techniques, statistical algorithm implementation and other high throughput analysis techniques.
Application development will include tools/application and database development using Visual Basic, R, and C/C++.
