An old dog is learning new tricks - maybe

There is a point in a life that learning new tricks is beyond physical capabilities or mental comprehension. However, I am finding that with the advent in the wealth of social media sites an old dog like me has a great chance of learning new tricks.

For any old folk who can remember party lines, the internet can be very intimidating. Most people my age are just getting rid of their rolodexes and discovering emails. My brother sent me a message recently telling me that he is going to be rich. He had just received the Ethiopian email scam and thought it was real.

I am fortunate to be a person who is fascinated with invention and intention. This lead me to becoming obsessed with the PC and the internet very early on.

Yet, I am a late bloomer when it comes to social media sites. I laughed at my 16 year old son and my thirty five year old nephew when I looked at their Facebook and Myspace sites.

But, now I am hooked. Not only are these sites revolutionizing business networking but a newbie elder like me has an audience and outlet for his personal thoughts.

I am learning new tricks thanks to the friendliness and openness of the young people who congregate everywhere on the web. I have a ton of questions and am counting on all of you to get me up to speed.
