Any tips for keeping your in-house recruiting team engaged in a down economy?

Hello all,

This is my first post so....be nice. :-)

Like many companies right now, due to the economic climate, we're not hiring as much as we have been. As a result, my team has went from recruiting on numerous complex positions to recruiting on less than half of what they were used to in a very short amount of time. We are still on target to meet our annual goals and I have been able to keep the team engaged by working on special "extra" recruiting-related group projects (i.e. - re-vamping our new hire orientation, crafting various workshops for the company interns and creating a Twitter account to begin tweeting company and open job information). This has helped keep the team stimulated and occupied the extra bandwidth that they have from having less requisitions to recruit on. However, lately I've been hearing the recruiting here is not expected to get busy again until after 2010 when the economic recovery begins. I'm curious to hear from my fellow in-house recruiting leader peers about what else you all may be having your team do that benefits the company and your overall recruiting strategy. Most importantly, what are you doing to keep your recruiters engaged and excited to still be a recruiter - even in times like these.

Any advice / tips are appreciated.
