Benefits and Compensation in the U.S. - 2016 Election Edition [Infographic]

Ever been curious how the U.S. stacks up against other countries in terms of how we reward our employees?

In this infographic on compensation and benefits in the U.S., we get some really interesting numbers on how the U.S. compares to the rest of the world. When it comes to salaries, we’re “winning,” as a current presidential contender would say. The U.S. ranks number 1 for salary, and has just 3 percent of its population in the low income bracket. By comparison 56 percent of the world population is considered low income.

But other countries are competitive when it comes to benefits. In Sweden, paternity leave is 56 weeks. In South Korea, it’s 52.6. In the United States? We’re one of four countries currently offering a big, fat zero. When it comes to the gap between male and female pay, we fall right in the middle, at 65th. The gap does appear to be shrinking right now - but at a pace so slow it’s estimated we’ll need 80 more years to close it.
