I boot up my iMac and I have more blog posts in my Google Reader than I can possibly get through. I turn on my iPod and Rihanna is asking me,
where dem bloggers at? And the Black Eyed Peas prompt me,
why don’t you put it in the blog? As of today,
Technorati searches and categorizes 1,244,715 registered blogs (there will be more tomorrow). The site also has 300 million unique visitors a month worldwide and 150 million people in the US. Even though my father asks me if I’ve written an “article” lately, then requests that I print out and send using the US Postal Service, a majority of consumers view this fresh, user-generated content using a personal computer or mobile device.
Employers are utilizing
company blogs to showcase their employment brand.
Recruiters are starting blogs that showcase their industry and make it easier for candidates to connect with them. These same
candidates are blogging to demonstrate their qualifications and supplement their resume.
So, you want in? These blog posts and bloggers have some logistical and strategic advice for members of the blogosphere.
You don’t even have to start your own blog using
WordPress or
Typepad. Instead, you can submit posts to sites like
RecruitingBlogs.com,
ERE.net or
Brazen Careerist that compile users’ posts into one central location.
Still apprehensive? You can just dip your toe in the water by visting blogs and networking with other visitors. Find a blog you enjoy (maybe one from the Recruitalicious blogroll?) and start commenting.
