Campervan Hire Or Motorhome Hire – Which One Is Better?

There are experienced travelers who differ strongly about which motor vehicle rules the road when coming to road trips – motorhome or campervan.  However, it totally depends on your type of trip, how long is the journey and what are your take away from the trip. So let’s take a look at the pros and cons of each vehicle when choosing between a motorhome and a campervan.

Usability is an important point to ponder, especially if you’re thinking about a motorhome. Motor homes are usually expensive with all the features and modern amenities like you get a built in Wash cabinet and shower cubicle, a fully functional kitchen area and a comfortable lounge area. Some higher end models can also come with luxurious items like a flat screen TV and a DVD player, utensils, camp guides and other stock items. Basically, a motorhome is a home on a move.

Of course, if you do go out regularly for long distances, then a motorhome with all its accessories can make the journey all the more pleasurable, especially if you have a mid- to large-sized family.

Campervans on the other hand are more suitable for couples owing to smaller size. The house comforts are limited owing to the size. You can have a long comfortable journey in a motorhome whereas in a campervan you would have to make arrangements for your daily wash routines etc.

There are also lots of costs you need to keep in mind when trying to decide motorhome or campervan. At the foremost is the purchase or rental price.  Other cost areas include Maintenance or campground fees and insurance. The bigger the RV, the more that can go wrong—because motor homes have engines, and transmissions, and pumps and sophisticated electronics. So unless you’re handy with a screwdriver and a wrench, repairs are generally more expensive. Similarly, the bigger the vehicle, the larger is your insurance bill. So its obvious motor homes will have larger insurance bills than campervans. You should check several insurance companies for the best rate and service before you buy or rent, and figure that a motorhome is always going to cost more than a campervan.

Also one needs to check on the comfort factor while driving a motorhome and a campervan. Ultimately, the one with most ease to use has to be the right choice for your trip. Your choice would therefore be largely dependent on your length and type of journey and the budget of course.
