Candidates are taking it too far!

I can't take it anymore! What the heck are all these candidates doing? In their desperation to find the next great opportunity, they are casting their net too far, too wide. I am becoming inundated with candidates unqualified for positions I've posted. And I only have a couple of posts out there, thank goodness!

One example is "mba requirement" and tons of bachelor's candidates flood in, a software sales opportunity and suddenly retail sales candidates are applying. I do not reply if someone is incredibly unqualified.

But to all those job seekers, i say...Stop the madness!

Comment by Alaina Rivas on January 29, 2009 at 9:50pm: It is a tough market right now for job seekers. We are seeing somewhat of a trend in my market (High Level Sales) of candidates just not wanting to except a NO, we are not interested in moving forward.

I don't see a candidate who applies for a position where they are unqualified as determination. I think it shows a lack of respect and a lack of attention to detail. That said, I do applaud those who not only apply for positions where they are qualified with a coverletter but also make a follow-up phone call. That shows determination and thoughtfulness. I'll take your comments into consideration and it felt good to blog about this too. Thanks again,
