ClearedJobs.Net debuts new “Cleared Military” community online to provide timely career search and private-sector employment support

ClearedJobs.Net, a veteran-owned job board serving the security cleared community, unveils a new online community to continue its outreach to the veteran and military community. Building upon its successful Military Spouse Appreciation Day campaign for the last two years and its longstanding relationship with the US military, ClearedJobs.Net has launched “Cleared Military” both on Twitter (@ClearedMilitary) and on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ClearedMilitary).

The program was unveiled at the monthly Transition Assistance program at Fort Meade, Maryland where Cleared Jobs.Net spearheads a class, Social Media and Sandwiches, assisting military job seekers transitioning into private industry on how they can use social media to find their jobs.

The management at ClearedJobs.Net has been providing this class to many military groups in the Washington DC metro area such as MOAA NOVA BANG, Naval Academy and the transitions managers of the Naval District. It is very important for the job seeker to understand how social media is used in their job search, career development and how this will be used by their future employers to collaborate on programs.

The goal of the ClearedJobs.Net-led classes and seminars is to dispel the common misconception that those in the security-cleared world should not be on social media. On the contrary, because social media has already surpassed email as a form of communication, it is vital for military folks in the process of career transition to utilize social media tools to extend and augment their career searches. Social tools also allow transitioning military to have direct points of contact with hiring managers and decision makers at defense and government contractors.

“The military community has long used social media as a way to support military and veterans and their families,” adds Kathleen Smith, Chief Marketing Officer for ClearedJobs.Net. “It seems quite fitting to debut our Cleared Military online communities at a time of the year where honoring our service men and women is at an all time high as we near Veteran’s Day.”

Additional online events in support of military personnel and veterans

ClearedJobs.Net will additionally host an online celebration event on the Cleared Military Facebook page on Veterans’ Day: for everyone who gives a “shout out” (by posting a supportive status update) to the US military or shares their veterans support story, ClearedJobs.Net will purchase a “Cup of Joe” from Greens Beans Coffee.

Moreover, as ClearedJobs.Net is a Marine-owned company, the job board will also be supporting the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation campaign on the Cleared Military Facebook page on the 235th Marine Corps birthday, Wednesday, November 10, 2010.
