Contract staffing revenue increased by 14% to $117.2 million in 2011, which is higher than experts had expected, according to a Staffing Industry Analysts forecast.
Part of the reason for this higher-than-expected increase is the government's crackdown on worker misclassification. The appreciation companies gained for contractors as a result of the recession may also have played a part in the increase.
The forecast has predicted that staffing industry revenue will increase by another 10% this year. In fact, 34% of employers plan to hire contract workers in the second quarter this year, according to Staffing Industry Analysts, citing a CareerBuilder survey. Thirty-seven percent added contractors during the first quarter of 2012.
