There's a phrase I am seeing way too often;
"I have combined full time studies with other commitments. In achieving this, I have shown myself to be hardworking, dedicated and determined in achieving my goals."
I'm seeing it so often it's starting to make me yawn and it's colouring my opinion of what might otherwise be a good CV. It tells me the author went to the internet and slavishly copied the advice given there, without even bothering to reword it in any way. That doesn't give me a particularly good impression of them, particularly as this statement is normally in the very first paragraph. I have to stop myself thinking "Oh no, not another one" and moving on to the next candidate before I've even read any further.
I DO stop myself - I don't want my reaction to this text to be as "copy & paste" as the text itself. I wonder if hard-pressed employers are making the same decision though. I'm assuming more recruiters than candidates read these blogs, so just wondered if anyone else reacts in the same way?
