Dropping Active and Passive Candidate Labels

My first blog - ever, folks! I was listening to Recruiter's House Party last week on Blog Talk Radio, and one the hosts – Geoff Webb suggested that he would like to see “active” and “passive” labels dropped in the next year. I half way agree with him, it’s so “y2k-ish!”

The term “active” is good and will probably continue to be used because it still refers to a candidate who is actively searching or has already applied for a position. But, I have never liked the term “passive.” Geoff suggests that we start referring to all candidates as “talent” which is what they already are – active/passive talent. So, this opens the question, what is a good new way to differentiate talent in the future?

You can listen and call in each week to Recruiter’s House Party on BlogTalkRadio on Wednesday evenings at 8PM ET. Show originally hosted by Geoff Webb (radicalrecruit) and Maha Akiki, they have now added co-host Samantha Harris (qc_lady) as a regular on the show. You can also follow them on twitter under the hastag #rechouseparty. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/recruiterhouseparty

Let's talk about it!
