Electronic signatures - do they help the recruitment process?

Software solutions have revolutionised the recruitment process over recent years, for both in-house and agency recruiters. But, as with anything, some processes don’t catch up as quick as others.

Enter paper-based processes. These will be the most time consuming parts of a recruiter's role. Think registering new candidates, creating unique contracts for offers of employment, tracking and signing off timesheets, internal hiring & onboarding showing procedure compliance - these things take time, can feel inefficient and over time are expensive. As the recruitment industry has always had it’s own ambitious character, this means many consultants are keen to find ways of streamlining these processes. Freeing up their valuable time to generate more revenue.

Enter electronic signatures (also known as eSignatures). This solution offers a quick fix to paper-based recruitment processes, or any task that needs authorisation. In any business time is money. And when you consider that the average employee spends 30-40%* of their time looking for information in either email or a filing cabinet, that’s a lot of money wasted in a go-getting environment.

Electronic signatures have, however, been a source of uncertainty for some new adapters. Is this a legitimate process? Does this keep my time invested secure? Are they a secure form of signature? All are reasonable concerns of course, but luckily; none apply. Electronic signatures are infact a more secure process than traditional signing methods, and have been 100% legal since the year 2000. The most recent update to regulations (eIDAS) sees all countries across Europe adhere to the same rules, now making it easier to do business with European countries.

After considering that electronic signatures mean documents are sent instantly to multiple parties, are trackable, searchable and are easily amended to suit each candidate. As well as cutting out any time spent chasing candidates or clients.  Then, to answer the question; “do electronic signatures help the recruitment process?”, I answer yes. Not only do eSignatures help, but they also improve any recruitment businesses’ productivity and efficiency.
