I just got back from Las Vegas for the annual Fordyce confernce filled with big billers. This is not a general recruiting event instead it was a gathering of agency folks (no corporate recruiters to be found) and most those who have experience and generate a good amount of revenue.

I was there to present a workshop on Sales Skills for Recruiters. I was fortunate enough to be able to site in on a few other presentations that I want to share here...

Barb Bruno opened the conference with a keynote following a wonderful and warm introduction from the conference chairperson, Jeff Skretny. Barb and I were just together in Palm Springs for the CA Staffing Professionals event a few weeks earlier... She gave a motivational talk and hit on many key areas to help people battle the current economy. I left with two pages of notes and presented a teach-back today to my team at Albin Engineering. She talked about her 6 revenue generating strategies and doing things such as goal planning for your own reasons not your manager. What is your dream? Are you committed to it? What are your expectations for yourself? What are your minimum performance standards and that all real Pros need a coach/trainer.

Jeff Kaye gave a power packed presentation following Barb to round out the morning and took us right into our lunch break. He is dynamic presenter who flows from concept to concept with ease. He asked, Do you exude confidence? Jeff has a new Next Level training program that he is kicking off with videos of all the top industry trainners.

After lunch and before my session I jumped into the main room to listen to Jordan Rayboy. Jordan travles the continent now in a large RV and is recruiting all the way. He lives the life he loves and is a joy to listen to. This was his first speaking engagement and I have to say he dida great job. His message was clear, his adivce was easy to follow and he colored it around his travels and photos. Jordan talked about focus time and phone time, the need for planning, what is your time is worth and how to leverage your team.

I have to say this was a great event! It was put on by the team from ERE/Fordyce Letter. The new M Resort hotel was amazing, a bit down the road but worth the drive. I met a bunch of top notch people that I am looking forward to working with on splits, etc. There a a ton of buzz around VIPE following my presentation where I talked about how we are using it for differentiating our candidates with video introductions.

I'm going to be staying close to home through the summer and will be looking forward to my next speaking engagement as I have been invited to present the Opening Keynote at this years annual meeting of NAPS (National Association of Personnel) at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas on 10/1. This is going to be a great event with all the biggest names in staffing & recruiting there such as, Job Bartos, Jennifer Lambert, Scott Love, Barb Bruno, Jordan Rayboy, Jeff Kaye and more...
