FOUR INTERVIEW PREP TIPS YOU WISH YOU HAD KNOWN SOONER

No matter where you are in your job search, you will wish you had known these quick interview prep tips sooner. …we just wish we could have told you sooner.

  • Knowledge is Everything: People dish out this advice all the time: research the company you are going to work for. But even they might now realize just how critical it is. Going into an interview without knowing specific things about the company makes you look like you don't care about the job. So get passionate about two to three specific aspects of the company that you can speak confidently about.

  • Do Ask Questions: At the end of the interview, you will likely be asked if you have any questions. Know that you will be nervous, so come prepared with at least one question you discovered from the company's website or through your own research. This will show that you are passionate about learning more about the company and their vision for your position.

  • Practice in A Mirror: In practicing for an interview, a lot of the dialogue that goes on is often just in your head. While going over responses to possible questions, stand in front of a mirror so you can be made aware of the body language you’re communicating when you speak. Do you look nervous while talking about accomplishments? Do you look frustrated when talking about your previous position? You want all of your answers to come from a confident place. So focus on lifting you head up, putting your shoulders down and practicing genuine eye contact with the mirror.

  • Ditch the Sleepless Night and Espresso Morning: It's very normal to be nervous the night before an interview and to find it difficult to sleep, but not getting adequate sleep could jeopardize your performance in the interview. Try to put your fears to bed early for the sake of a good night's rest so you will wake up feeling refreshed and alert. Also, don’t deviate from your normal caffeine routine, and certainly avoid the extra-large espresso that will just add to your job interview jitters.

While you may wish you’d known these tips sooner, it’s never too late to start implementing them.
