Compensation Data Facts - What's What in Compensation

DID YOU KNOW?

Global recruiting... CVs (Curriculum Vitae, which in Latin means ‘the course of my life’) are used almost exclusively in countries outside of the United States. European resumes are typically referred to as CVs, but are formatted like a North American resume (as opposed to a North American CV, which is usually longer and more detailed).

Europe consists of 51 countries, of which 28 are members of the European Union. The E.U. administration’s suggested Europass CV format is designed so that an applicant can list their nationality, visa status and date of birth just below their contact information. It is common to include a professional headshot, marital status, number of children (ages optional) and language proficiency.

The highest volume of job searches are in the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Attracting foreign talent can be challenging due to national differences in employment law and H.R. policy. Labor contracts differ by country and a valid cause for termination in one country may not be acceptable in another. A certain level of proficiency in the native language is often required and can complicate the recruiting process.

Many firms require applicants to complete psychometric tests before interview selection. Psychometric testing measures a person's behavioral characteristics and is used to determine the individual's ability to perform a specific type of task.
