The need for experienced Recruiters in the Healthcare IT industry runs almost as deep as the need for experienced Healthcare IT Analysts / Consultants.  I receive questions on a regular basis from experienced Recruiters about how they can break into the Healthcare or more specifically Healthcare IT Recruitment field.  Since these fields are need of experienced recruiters, it can be difficult to find a role without having a background in either IT or Healthcare or both.

As a Healthcare IT Recruiter your target candidates are experienced Healthcare IT Professionals and they want to speak with Recruiters that understand their qualifications and how to "sell their resume" to prospective clients and employers. Too often they find that many Recruiters are "key-word searchers" and have no solid understanding of what those words mean or involve.

When I started in this industry in early 2007 I had a background in Sales Recruitment and Industrial Staffing.  I had virtually NO idea about IT Recruitment or the Healthcare IT Industry.  Back then the demand of this industry was not as great as it is today and I was fortunate to get hired and trained by some incredibly patient and knowledgeable people.  6 years later I am still learning new things about how the industry functions or about new technologies and how they interact.  There is never a dull moment.

The Healthcare IT industry isn't without it's challenges, but if you are interested in a rewarding, stimulating, fast-paced environment, it might be right for you.
