Recruitment experts often suggest  that “improving the quality & speed of the hire” is the primary focus and highest priority within recruiting today. The days are gone where organizations could wait for weeks for a new hire; the brief these days is can we interview the candidate tomorrow. Estimates have also revealed that a number of companies have begun to analyze the recruiting process and this has led to improved processes and hiring high-quality talent as well. Social Media & crowd sourcing are the newest channels that are now being widely tapped to get that Mr. Right be it the organizations, be it the recruiters. The JIT Model seems to be working good now not only in IT Hiring but has now crossed over to the non-IT hiring too.

India is likely to have 243 million Internet users by 2014 and a significant of them on mobile internet, recruiters now have the option to tap into this platform and start engaging clients and candidates alike, especially the passive ones, a study suggest that social media recruiting has increased by almost 25% and has thus emerged as the most popular recruiting trend in India.

Niche Recruiting is another emerging area that is seeing an unprecedented growth across all sectors; for example IT recruiting now covering domains like mortgage risk cover or and engineering design unit needing an Oracle Apps Project accounting specialist. Cross domain hiring is something that the recruiters will have to contend with & therefore the inherent need to engage the passive candidates.

Psychometrics also play a very important role in mid & senior level hiring in India and we are seeing and increased need for quality psychologists in-house as well as outsourced who get involved right from the initiation of the hiring process.

And with the optimistic sentiment that is echoed by a proactive Government and a defined thrust into the manufacturing & Infrastructure, we are likely to see firms gearing up their hiring teams & mechanisms in times to come.

Skill – Speed – Scale up. The new Mantra of Hiring !!

We would say, exciting time to be in India!!
