Infographic : The Gender Pay Gap ( the real results)

We recently conducted a survey with 100 participants from across Ireland and the UK about the recently debated gender pay gap. Here are some of the main takeaways (scroll down for infographic).

 

Participants overview

93% females and 7 % males took part in our survey conducted on the gender pay gap. They fell into the following age ranges.

  • 35.35% – 18 to 24
  • 30.51% – 25 to 34
  • 13.13% – 35 to 44
  • 1.01% –  45 to 54

93.94% of the participants have heard about the gender pay gap with 6.06% not knowing anything about it at all.

 

Gender pay gap questionnaire results 

We conducted a gender pay gap questionnaire with the options of  Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree , Strongly Disagree.

  • 43% agree the pay gap is limited to women only
  • 32% agree the pay gap is more probable in gender dominant industries ( politics , nursing, teaching etc. )
  • 49.49% agree the pay gap can or will affect future employment

 

Thoughts and experience of the gender pay gap 

92.93 % think that the pay gap should be abolished in Ireland / The UK and over a half of participants ( 53.06%) have found themselves in a job where a person of the opposite sex have got paid more  for the same position.

 

Contributing Factors 

We asked the participants what factors do they believe cause the gender pay gap

  • 16% political
  • 8% marital status
  • 11% education and experience
  • 65% discrimination
