In the first half of this year, hiring demand for Recruiters was growing – a promising sign that employers planned to do more hiring. However, over the past several months, the volume of job ads for Recruiting professionals has declined significantly. In October, demand dropped again with about 4,700 new job ads posted online for Recruiters, 10% less than in September and down 9% versus one year ago.

Cities with Highest Hiring Demand for Recruiters – October 2011 vs. 2010
The last time we posted about the demand for Recruiters, our Hiring Scale™ showed there were about 8.7 potential candidates in the workforce for every job ad. Now, with a declining hiring demand, the Hiring Scaleshows about 9.8 candidates per job opening. Job ads for Recruiters are online for an average of 37 days. However, recruiting conditions will depend on each city. Of the above cities with high volumes of ads for Recruiters, we found that Philadelphia has the best recruiting conditions with about 12 potential candidates per opening and and average posting period of 35 days. Organizations in the Philadelphia area will likely spend less time and expenses sourcing for open Recruiter jobs. In comparison, Seattle has the most difficult Recruiting conditions of these 10 locations. In addition, job ads are online for an average of 42 days, meaning that organizations here have a higher cost-per-hire and time-to-fill than many of their counterparts.
