KODA: Social Recruiting Amongst Change-Makers, Visionaries & the Occasional Mermaid

I’m Lauren McCabe and I love mermaids. Mermaids got me my first job, a boyfriend, and inspired my senior year thesis: a novel about—you guessed it—mermaids. In 2007, I graduated from college and embarked on an epic job search, working as an SAT Instructor, Soul & Funk Radio DJ, PR Consultant, Waitress, Writer, and Surf Instructor. Finding a job is tough, but when push comes to shove, I’ve always managed.

That’s why I’m KODA’s new blogger-in-residence: I’m blogging, tweeting, facebooking, and chatting about all the issues that pertain to college students, recent graduates, and outstanding Talent scouring the world for work.

They’re all, by the way, full of questions and dying to connect with you – the recruiters. When they find out that over 500 employers can discover them on KODA, they just about lose it, kind of like you do when you find a really great candidate. You leap out of your swivel chair and do a little jig-- I blogged about it. Don’t lie.

So how can you find them – the honor students, change-makers, and creative visionaries who are the best things that your organization hasn’t found yet? Join KODA. You can reach out to the KODA talent pool, boost your brand awareness, and drive candidates to apply directly with your organization.

Hi Maren! Good question. We have the most success with corporate recruiters who are tasked with hiring top talent for their entry-to-mid level jobs. College recruiters often have the budgets that allow them to recruit in person on college campuses, and their activities are sometimes restricted to on-campus initiatives. However, many corporate recruiters are responsible for filling positions that require minimal experience outside of the official college recruiting programs. We've received a great response from those folks. We're also generating a lot of interest from HR Branding specialists who are responsible for marketing their employers to top talent as "great places to work."

We'd love to speak to you too, Maren, because we're working on plans for additional features that will make our community stronger and would love to hear what you've learned. Lauren is indeed funny and smart - we're so lucky that she joined our team last month!

Wow thanks for the compliments guys. It's great to be able to interact with our community every day, and I always find it striking how many questions our users have about the the job search. This is entirely new ground to all of them, and KODA's next challenge is to transform our space into a dialogue between the users, employers, & recruiters. Can't wait for what's on the frontier!
