There is nothing wrong with leveraging your relationships to get what you want. Look how social media has completely transformed the way the world communicates today. It has taken over the traditional ways and made it much stronger, faster, and gave us a global reach. It is advantageous for us to use every relationship possible to increase our employability and marketability in today's workforce. Search through and update your digital rolodex of contacts regularly. There is someone you know, who knows someone you need to know.

Start asking around and find out whom that someone is and launch your personal campaign to leverage and build from those relationships. Get all your ducks in a row and utilize the best business network tools out there today. Build your professionalLinkedIn profile and start connecting. Make sure to have a game plan and execute it to enhance your network. If you are a Software Engineer connecting to a VP of Technology or CIO should be your target. You have to envision yourself like a Fortune 500 Company. They all have a target audience they want to reach with a strategic plan in place. We need to adopt this same mindset when it comes to our careers.

My personal LinkedIn connections and relationships has allowed me to speak at various schools and be a guest columnist and the doors continue to open. To leverage means: to have power, ability, to act or influence people, events and decision. WOW! That is awesome knowing we can do all this simply by asking who we already know, that knows someone we need to know.Time-For-Success.jpg
