JOB DESCRIPTION for the role of Manager - Waste for Leading Renewable Energy Company in Middle East

Manager Waste
Experience: 7.00 to 10.00 years ; Education: B.Sc

Role Purpose:
Ensure that the city implements a sustainable, financially and operationally viable waste management system which is compliant with the City’s sustainability vision.

Key Accountabilities:
1. Identify the volumes of waste generated in the City based on phasing input from the Strategy and Development Division, classified according to type and origin
2. Conduct a detailed review on initial waste management master plans and assess their financial and operational viability as well as compliance with the City’s vision
3. Develop conclusions on the initial master plans and communicate findings to the Infrastructure Department Manager
4. Assist Strategy & Development on the assessment, selection and negotiation with potential waste management service providers while representing the City’s economic and sustainability interests
5. Supervise the work of waste management consultants on a day-to-day basis and act as a point of contact for all questions and issues raised by waste management consultants, internal stakeholder divisions /departments (such as Sales & Marketing, Sustainability, Zone Authority) as well as external stakeholders (such as the Department of Health, Municipality)
6. Continuously manage technical issues during design and implementation of waste processing facilities and coordinate with relevant departments on the resolution of technical issues and necessary changes
7. Develop metrics and KPIs that will be used to monitor the compliance of waste management service providers and track the City’s overall waste management performance

9. Assist Energy Efficiency and Zone Authority Division Director in establishing guidelines for approved construction materials and relevant waste management practices for the City
10. Identify implementation risks to establish and communicate early on a waste management delivery risk framework

Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:
• Excellent analytical, numerical and problem solving skills
• Strong team player with ability to balance conflicting priorities
• Ability to prioritise actions
• Commercially aware and able to act in clients best interests

Education and Certification requirements:
• Minimum Bachelor degree in engineering, Master degree in waste management and/or environmental sciences preferred

Job specific technical Skills:
• 7+ years in a managerial position of design, supervision and operation of waste management facilities and technologies
• Background in green/sustainable communities and/or related policies is a strong advantage
• Working knowledge of project management aspects
• Professional manner but able to take firm and timely decisions
