Whether you are a student, a CISO, or a seasoned information security analyst, it's always helpful to stay on top of the latest news and events within the cyber security space. One of the easiest (and sometimes most entertaining) ways to stay on top of these events is to follow the social media accounts of InfoSec thought leaders. If information security and network visibility are top of mind, here is a list of the accounts we think you should follow.
Dr. Eric Cole (@drericcole) – Dr. Cole is one of the foremost instructors for the SANS Institute, and is the CEO of SecurityHaven. Sharing his thoughts on information security, Dr. Cole posts regularly on twitter in an effort to enlighten security newbies and season veterans alike.
Paul Asadoorian (@securityweekly) – As the creator and main personality of the Security Weekly podcast, Paul has a lot to say on the topic of information security. His twitter feed is a great way to stay on top of the latest trends in security along with the most recent episodes of the Security Weekly podcast.
Troy Hunt (@troyhunt) – Have you ever wondered if your username and/or password has been compromised in one of the many reported breaches? Troy created the @haveibeenpwned website that allows you to check and see if your email address has been tied to a security breach. Aside from creating this super useful tool, Troy is the Microsoft Regional Director and MVP for Developer Security.
Space Rogue (@spacerog) – Keeping you entertained whilst delivering relevant security content, Space Rogue is a security veteran who has worked for companies such as @Stake, Gaurdent, Trustwave, Tenable, and IBM X-Force. He's been interviewed by several media organizations and has testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security. You can learn more about Space Rogue on his twitter account or his website.
Katie Moussouris (@k8em0) – Katie is the Founder and CEO of @lutasecurity which allows organizations to correctly setup vulnerability disclosure and bug bounty programs. Katie has a ton of posts on information security and other fascinating subjects.
Unfortunately, the Information Security accounts are few and far between on Instagram. However, there were a few that we were able to find.
She Secures (@she_secures) – She secures is working to build a community of Women in Cyber Security. Their Instagram page has a good amount of infographics around information security.
Ramon Nastase (@ramonnst) – Ramon has a few quick video posts on information security and information technology. Check him out if you are okay with reading subtitles.
