There is yet more evidence that American workers are putting off retirement, courtesy of a new retirement survey reported on in USA Today.
According to the survey conducted by Sun Life Financial, more than 80% of workers think they will need at least three years to rebuild retirement savings that were decimated in the Great Recession. Twenty percent believe they will never recoup all that they lost.
This means that more workers are delaying retirement. In fact, the percentage of workers who said they are putting off retirement increased from 54 percent in 2008 to 64 percent in this year's survey. And 52 percent expect to work at least three years longer than they had planned.
Contracting can be the perfect solution for these workers because it allows them to continue their careers and bring in extra money without the constraints of a typical nine to five position. If this recent survey is any indication, you shouldn't have any trouble finding experienced older workers to fill your contract job orders!
Debbie Fledderjohann is the President of Top Echelon Contracting, Inc.
