Being a Smart Recruiter is knowing your customer and creating a relationship with that person. Your customer knows exactly what he/she is looking for and can provide a right direction. Once that raphor and trust is made. You will have the world in your pocket. Your customer can provide you with sample resumes of current employees that will help you build queries on data bases. His or Her staff can provide you resources i.e. Alumni Associations where Recruiters cannot connect with..For example MIT. The Client can also supply you with Associations and Chat Rooms that his or her team is involved with. You can also, have the position sent out to the staff and have them send out to their networks...

Working with your client in such a long way will give you credability not only with the Customer but, also the Company.

Work the same way with Candidates being open and honest...Get into their lives. Behind every good candidate is a decision make..i.e spouse, friends that they are close to. Capture your candidate...Show them you are a dedicated professional. They will send their friends, even if no jobs for them are open at this time. Work with them...If there are no jobs...You may know of other Recruiters that would be interested.

It is all about relationships.

I have been recruiting for over 25 years and have hardly used the job boards..Yes, I posted jobs...however, a raphor with the Hiring Manager and a candidate will get you a long way. I built a Design Team, being the only Recruiter to do this..I worked closely with this team. The Client and his team gave me more than I expected in regard to the above approach. I was able to fill 35 Designers within 4 months way ahead of the expected time frame and received an EXCELLANCE AWARD.

I have also utilized many creative approaches that are not traditional and always was able to fill jobs in a timely manner.

A Smart Recruiter creates relationships. Behind every person, there are at least a 100 people they know and ect..

BTW, I am now looking for a Recruiter Position within the Phoenix, AZ area...Please advise if you know of any resources I can tap into.
