To celebrate our partnership with TalentDrive, we are dedicating this week on our blog to Resume Sourcing. You can learn more about our partnership and how it’s integrated into our Recruitment Marketing Platform by visiting the Resume Sourcing section of our website.

For those that still need convincing on the power and benefits of resume sourcing, I encourage you to read TalentDrive’s “Why Sourcing Now?” white paper. In this white paper, they’ve been able to provide interesting trends, insights and data about the current and future state of the recruitment marketing industry and why sourcing will be integral to recruiting going forward.

There is a lot of great information provided but here are my favorites from the white paper and my opinions on them:

  • 65% of a recruiter’s day is spent logging in and out of job boards to post and source for open requisitions
    • This number needs to be reduced. Recruiters time is valuable and it should be spent more on engaging with candidates than doing tasks that can be automated by technology!
  • There are over 77.7 million public resumes with over 50,000 active job boards and social media sites online, estimated to increase to 105,000 by 2011.
  • In a survey of thousands of job seekers with 970 respondents, 74% said posting a resume on a job board was the most effective job search method.
    • The online recruiting space is growing and people are becoming more comfortable with posting their resume & finding jobs online. In order to capitalize on this companies need to go where the candidates are & cost effectively leverage the internet for sourcing. The need is there.
  • From 2008-2009, the number of resumes online jumped by 12M with the number of resumes online by 2012 projected to be near 100M according to the Baird/Marcom April 2010 Labor Market Update.
    • This is a movement that is not going to stop so companies need to find solutions that enable them to capitalize on this untapped market.

There are many more highlights from the white paper and I strongly encourage you to check it out. Sourcing is here to stay and companies need to find technology solutions to find the most qualified candidates online!
