Understanding the tech jargon as a need to succeed as tech recruiter

Working in the IT field is as challenging as rewarding as you can imagine. But beginnings are difficult...who did not struggle to understand the differences between the terms and how they relate to one another?

Although I am myself not a recruiter, we have been interviewing several of them for our Recs & Devs podcast and listening to their stories is inspiring and can help out those who are now starting in the field. Understanding the terminology is only 50% of the job, you wills say. And it is true! But half is already a lot :)

What are some of the main recommendations of the experienced recruiters we talked to, you may ask?

  1. Ask questions, be curious and keep on learning even if you are reaching your goals and signing enough projects. Technology changes constantly - so you need to keep up!
  2. Listen to your candidates and use them as a learning resource. Make sure to spend enough time with them and get to know them and understand what moves them and what they are doing. They will be able to help you navigate this world, and understand it better.
  3. Be ready to innovate and move away from the usual methodologies and processes. Do what feels right to you, even if you will be told that this will not work. Be entrepreneurial!

At Texidi, we try to help new tech recruiters to become the best recruiter they can be by understanding the tech field. Check out our initiatives and reach out if you want to be involved!
